Sri Lanka’s hop on hop off bus service
ISLANDWIDE TRANSPORT FOR INDEPENDENT TRAVELERS
We are glad you’re here. If you’re looking for transportation options for your Sri Lankan adventure, you’ve come to the right place. Hop-On Lanka is a bus service that covers all the major island hot-spots and designed for the independent traveler.
How it works
Hop-On Lanka is a transport service that travels around Sri Lanka in a 1,200 km circular route (loop), covering all the must-see places on the island. The busses travel in one direction (clockwise) along the route which consists of 4 sectors. A bus travels one sector, once per day. Within a sector, the bus will stop at multiple locations where you can hop on or hop off at your convenience. All you have to keep in mind is that you cannot connect from one sector to another on the same day.
Updated Schedule for Off SeasonWe are suspending our Winter operations for the off season starting April 1st. For our Winter travellers, please make sure that your first day of travel is prior to March 31st and last day of travel is April 14th.
We will restart operations for the Summer season on July 1st through August 31st. Our Summer travellers will have until 14th of September to complete their travel.
Route & sectors
The termination point of each sector is an overnight stop, we have designed the sectors to terminate at popular destinations.
Colombo – Anuradhapura – Sigiriya – Habarana
Starting from Colombo and ending in Habarana. Along the way we stop at Seeduwa (3km from the airport), Negombo, Palavi Junction and Wilpattu. After a stop in Anuradhapura (2 hours) we continue towards Dambulla and Sigiriya, to end the sector in the town of Habarana.
Habarana – Kandy – Nuwara Eliya – Ella
Starting from Habarana, we arrive in Kandy where we make a stop (1h30) before making our way to the tea estates in Nuwara Eliya. We then complete the sector in the old railway town of Ella, a destination made popular by train travelers.
Ella – Kataragama – Mirissa – Galle
From Ella we drive towards Kataragama and Tissamaharama (Tissa), not far from Yala National Park. From Tissa, we go along the southern coast of Sri Lanka to Mirissa, a popular beach destination. We continue along the coast to our sector terminal destination – the most popular southern city among travelers – the fortress town of Galle.
Galle – Hikkaduwa – Colombo – Negombo
Along the coast, through popular beach towns. Starting in Galle, we pass through Hikkaduwa, the surf town of the south, up the coast of Bentota and back towards Colombo. From Colombo, we end this final sector in Seeduwa and Negombo.
